The Epistles
The Epistle to the Galatians is a startling example of the vigor with which such correspondence could be carried out. Paul tells his followers that they are being “bewitched”, that his teaching did not depend on information from the apostles (the very opposite of the argument that might appeal to us), attacks the personal behavior of pillars of the church, and challenges some common beliefs as to how Christians should live.
